Immigration granted one of the Applicants in MA & Ors, who is also the first screened-in torture claimant, permission to work on a discretionary basis. The question of whether the Director of Immigration has the legal obligation to permit mandated refugees and screened-in torture claimants to work is yet to be decided by the highest Court.
