2022 LSC Candidate Statement of Mr. Mark Daly

Dear Members,

I am standing for re-election to the Law Society Council, as I believe that it requires more diverse views and a revitalised international perspective. Upholding the rule of law requires concrete actions more than music videos.

I believe the Council should have a voice from the human rights sector attuned to challenges to our Basic Law and the rule of law, alongside the difficulties faced by our members undertaking publicly-funded and pro bono work, where legal services too often remain inaccessible to certain sectors of our society.

We also need to be actively engaged in the international human rights bodies, including the United Nations committees, and provide opportunities to young lawyers wanting to engage in human rights initiatives.
