(English) The Court of Appeal grants leave to the Government to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal in two same-sex equality cases regarding Intestacy Inheritance Laws and Public Housing
Earlier this afternoon, the Court of Appeal granted leave to the Government to appeal its Judgments in Ng Hon Lam Edgar & Li Yik Ho v Secretary for Justice [2024] HKCA 184 (Intestacy Inheritance Law) and Ng Hon Lam Edgar & Li Yik Ho v Hong Kong Housing Authority [2024] HKCA 185 (Public Housing) to the Court of Final Appeal. We are disappointed that the Government has continued to appeal in both cases, as this only furthers the pain that the Applicant has suffered as a result of the discrimination against him and his loved one based on their sexual orientation.
